Hello – I am Paula MacGregor, textile artist, educator, and creative inspirer.
How lovely that you are here, and curious to explore the gentle art of slow stitching.
Perhaps you are just beginning your slow stitch journey, wondering what it is and how to get started?
Or maybe you are a seasoned stitcher, looking for fresh ideas, guidance, or a quiet nudge back into your creative flow?
Wherever you are on the path, you are most welcome.
I live on an old farm in the English countryside, surrounded by trees and water. My neighbours are deer, foxes, badgers and owls – with nightingales, cuckoos, and even ravens calling from the nearby woods. It is a place full of quiet magic, and it is here that much of my stitching and storytelling begins.
I am delighted to invite you to join me in the Slow Stitch School Library – a warm and gentle space where you can learn at your own pace, explore new techniques, and develop your own beautifully unique style.
Inside the Library, you will find thoughtful guidance, creative inspiration, and simple ways to bring more calm, joy, and meaning into your stitching.
Let us begin this journey – stitching the world together...

Tokens of Love is a gentle stitching project that brings people together through small handmade tokens.
The idea began with the soft cloth tokens at the Foundling Museum - tiny pieces of fabric that once carried messages of hope and connection.
Although their stories belong to another time, the feeling behind them is still very real today. So many families, past and present, have been separated by circumstance, distance or difficult situations.
This project is not about loss, but about kindness and connection, and the small ways we continue to reach out to one another.
Each token is a simple offering - something made slowly, thoughtfully, and with care.
All of the tokens will be gathered together and go on tour as a travelling installation - a garland of grace.
